We launched the RUSTILES Surfaces as part of the "Material of the Year" installation at the London Design Fair in September 2017.
RUSTILES is coming from a desire to see our original textures from RUST Homeware Collection at a larger scale, and our interest in working with interior designers and architects. We want to show the versatility of our material: homeware is one output; tiles is another. So many other things can be done with it!
Handcrafted in Britain, RUSTILES are made of metal particles and Jesmonite, a composite consisting of a water based acrylic and gypsum.
We are proposing nine different shades of colours over two different tile size. All colours are only originating from different metal particles mix, and various oxidation techniques that we have been developing over the years. The oxidation process is intrinsic to the beauty of the RUSTILES, we require that all clients approve the full variation within each reference.
USAGE
The RUSTILES are not varnished, to add stain and abrasion resistance, the surfaces may require a top coat sealer prior to grouting (case by case basis).
We recommend to use the RUSTILES internally as wall tiles, and not in environments with high levels of moisture and heat, otherwise the tiles will have to be sealed.
The type of Jesmonite we use achieves a Class 0 fire rating, reduced smoke density and toxicity characteristics. It is also solvent free with no VOC’s.
All the information and recommendations we provide are based upon our experience and are offered merely as advice. It remains the responsibility of the end user to determine the suitability of the materials for the particular purpose intended.
LEAD TIME
Can vary depending on stock availability and resources. You will be given a specific lead time according to your order if stock is low.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
We can recommend adhesives for tiling internally and for grouting. It is best to use a wet tile cutter to trim. Once installed, wipe the tiles with damp cloth, cleaning agents are to be avoided.

We can manufacture custom sizes and finishes. Please send us your requirements and we will provide you with lead times and prices. It would become impractical to work on a surface exceeding 2.5 x 1 metre.
